Today, Panasonic has just made available a new firmware package targeted at two of its LUMIX digital cameras, namely version 1.2 compatible with the DMC-G6 and DMC-GF6 devices, which should improve the units’ overall performance and stability.

These newly outed updates improve the MF operation’s compatibility with H-FS12032 lenses and resolves the wireless connection problems encountered when an Apple iOS device was used.

As for installing this fresh release, first check that your currently installed firmware (Setup → Version DISP) doesn’t match the latest one. If they are different, then get and expand the downloadable archive.

Copy the .bin file onto a formatted memory card, ensure that the LUMIX G camera has a fully charged battery, insert the SD card into the camera’s slot, and turn on the device. Now press the “Play” button to enter Play mode, select “Yes” at the upgrade dialog, and wait for the camera to do its job.

Bear in mind that, during the firmware update process, turning off the camera, pressing any buttons, or removing any of the its components (SD card, lens, DC cable, AC adaptor) might lead to an update failure which could cause serious damage to the device.

Therefore, if you consider applying this latest version, download Firmware 1.2 for Panasonic DMC-G6 or download Firmware 1.2 for Panasonic DMC-GF6, depending on which device you own, take into account all the above-mentioned aspects, and stay “updated one minute ago.”
