Panasonic has made available a new firmware package, namely version 1.1, developed for its LUMIX XS1 (DMC-XS1), FH10 (DMC-FH10), and FS50 (DMC-FS50) digital cameras.

The release consists of separate files compatible with all of Microsoft’s Windows operating systems, as well as with the MAC platform.

As for the changes made, the newly released packages improve the playback picture quality at 3M/5M mode, and enhances the playability for Panorama mode.

As for applying version 1.1, first check you currently installed firmware by going to Menu → Setup → Version Disp. If your version is 1.1, then no further action is needed; otherwise, you must run the downloadable package that will extract an XS1_110S.elf file on your computer.

Copy the file onto a formatted memory card, make sure your camera’s battery is fully charged, power it off, and insert the card into the device.

Now, if you power the camera on while pressing the trash button, and “UPDATE” screen will appear on the display, and after a few seconds it will change and automatically start the update process.

After the upgrade completes and the camera shuts down, remove the microSD memory card from the device, and verify that the firmware installed properly by checking the version as described above.

That being said, all you need now is the firmware file, which you can download by following one of the links below (depending on which of the cameras you own) and, afterwards, click on the one that best describes your system’s platform.
