This update improves the device’s overall performance and the battery’s level indicator

Today, Pentax has outed a new firmware developed for its K-3 digital camera, namely version 1.02, which includes a few changes that, as the producer highlights, improve the device’s general performance.

In addition to that, a “Bracket shooting” option has been added, the battery’s level indicator has been enhanced, and the continuous shooting performance when in AF.C mode has been optimized.

As for installing this update, get and expand the downloadable archive, copy the “fwdc220b.bin” file onto a formatted SD card, make sure the battery is fully charged, and turn off the camera.

Insert the newly created memory card into the camera’s SD slot, power on the device while pressing the “Menu” button, and select the “Start” option at the “Updates the camera firmware” dialog (the currently installed version as well as the new firmware should be displayed).

Bear in mind that, while the “Now Loading” message is shown (meaning that the firmware is installing), switching off the camera, removing the memory card, or using the device’s controllers might lead to an update failure which could cause serious damage to your camera.

When the upgrade completes, a proper message will be displayed. At this point, you must turn off the device, remove the memory card, and confirm the newly installed version by going to Menu → Set-up 4 → Firmware Info/Options.

That being said, download Firmware 1.02 for Pentax K3 Digital Camera, take into account all the above-mentioned aspects, apply it, and stay “updated one minute ago.”
