Onkyo has recently released a new set of firmware updates for its network A/V receivers. Some of the devices get a fix for the issues where they were not able to connect to Free Trial on SiriusXM Internet Radio, while for the others, the new releases correct lockup failure when using Telstra T Box or MiCasaVerde Vera Lite controller on the same network.

To update, you'll first need to download the new Onkyo network A/V receivers firmware. The provided list will also detail the version number and, on each download page, there are the complete release notes.

Copy the contents of the archive to a FAT32 formatted USB drive, safely remove it and go to your network A/V receiver. Set the “HDMI Control(RIHD)” setting to “Off,” stop any Ethernet connection, playback of content from Internet Radio, iPod/iPhone, USB or servers and turn off the Multi Zone function.

Now, plug the USB stick into the unit and power it up. Select the USB input source and wait through the “Now initializing...” screen.

Next, use the remote control and press “Receiver” followed by “Home.” This will bring up the home menu in which you should select “Firmware Update.”

Go to “Update via USB” and press the “Enter” key. Confirm the installation and wait for it to initialize. A progress bar will offer feedback on how the setup is doing. Do not interrupt the device by removing the socket or the flash drive.

When the message “Completed!” comes up, remove the USB drive and use the “ON/Standby” button on the network A/V receiver to enter stand-by mode.

The process is now complete and the unit runs the new firmware.
