14 DAY TRIAL // Onkyo has made available new firmware packages compatible with some of its A/V receivers, which adds Spotify Connect support. However, bear in mind that the Spotify Music app must be downloaded prior to upgrading any receiver.
In order to be clear, after applying this update, you won’t be able to control any Spotify service using the receiver’s OSD menu. All Spotify functions will be available only through the Spotify Music application.
As for the targeted devices, Onkyo has provided firmware 1.07 for the TX-NR535 unit and firmware 1.06 for its TX-NR1030, TX-NR3030, and PR-SC5530 receivers, as well as firmware 1.09 compatible with TX-NR636, TX-NR737, TX-NR838, and HT-S7700 products.
When it comes to applying the present release, first of all disable HDMI Control and Multi Zone functions, disconnect any Ethernet cable or USB devices, and stop playback from Internet Radio, mobile phones, or any other device.
Now, save and unzip the appropriate archive for your unit, copy all content onto a formatted USB stick, insert it into the receiver’s port, and select USB as input source.
After the “Now Initializing ...” message disappears and the USB device is recognized, press RECEIVER and HOME buttons on the remote, go to Firmware Update > Update via USB > Update, and wait for the firmware to be applied.
Upon completion, just remove the USB stick, press “On/Standby” button, and you’re done. However, bear in mind that you mustn’t press the “Receiver” button on the remote.
