Just now, Nikon has made available new firmware packages targeted at some of its digital SLR cameras, namely version C:1.02 and C:1.03 for the D5200 and D3200 cameras, respectively, as well as version C:1.01 developed for the retro-styled Nikon Df.

This fresh release fixes several issues that should increase the cameras’ overall performance and stability, adds support for focal lengths (in 35mm format) and error messages (for retractable lens) display, and includes several other changes listed on the description page of each download record.

As for installing Nikon’s latest updates, get and expand the proper downloadable file (Windows or Mac-compatible format), copy the newly extracted .bin file onto the root folder of a memory card, insert it into the camera, and power on the device.

Now, from the Setup menu, go to Firmware Version and follow the on-screen instructions in order to successfully apply the firmware. When the process finishes, turn off the camera, remove the memory card, and let the unit rest for five seconds with the battery and AC adapter connected.

Afterwards, you can turn the camera back on and check the firmware version to ensure that the latest update has been successfully installed – a good idea after any upgrade.

That being said, if you consider updating your camera’s firmware version to the latest, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your Nikon device, and afterwards select the link that is compatible with your OS.
