Just now, Nikon has released a new firmware update targeted at its D800 and D800E digital SLR cameras, namely version 1.10 (both A and B), which brings support for several new features that improve the devices’ overall performance and usability.

This new update changes the custom settings f13 and f14 to “Assign Movie Record Button” and “Assign MB-D12 AF-ON,” respectively, and also adds a new one, namely f15 (“Assign Remote Fn Button”).

In addition to that, the setup menu will have a new “Network (UT-1)” option added and the Wi-Fi transmitter renamed to “Wireless transmitter (WT-4)” only when the UT-1 communication unit is used along with the targeted cameras.

If version 1.10 is applied, the problem where the remote Speedlights would not fire when the built-in flash is set to commander mode will be resolved, and the memory card access lamp will work properly.

Moreover, CF memory cards larger than 128 GB are now supported, a new “HTTP server” mode has been added, and various functions have been renamed. You can view the full changelog on the description page of each camera.

Still, bear in mind that, in order to make use of some of the features, users must upgrade the UT-1 communication unit to firmware version 2.0.

As for the downloadable package, Nikon has made available two files for each of the cameras, which are compatible with Windows and Mac OSes.

That being said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your device, download the proper file for your system OS, and constantly check with our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
