Samsung dishes out new firmware for the (so far) three members of the SSD family: the 830 series, with 2 desktop-oriented drives and one for notebook use.

The greatest improvement in version CXM03B1Q is the increased stability and compatibility of the firmware update tool. Since users have reported drive detection issues, the new firmware seems to address this problem and eliminate its causes.

The features and functionality of the previous update tool designed for the CXM02B1Q firmware have remained the same; it's just that upgrading to CXM03B1Q is now safer. Samsung advises that a cold reboot is mandatory after updating the SSDs to CXM03B1Q.

While some PCs are still receiving electricity even when shut down, Samsung asks users to disconnect the power cord just to make sure everything's completely "dead." Backing up your data on the SSDs whose firmware you're about to update is a good idea lest you lose important stuff.

The Samsung SSD 830 firmware CXM03B1Q and update tool can be downloaded from Softpedia as of now.
