Today, Canon has made available new firmware packages targeted at some of its network cameras, namely version 1.2.0 for VB-M40 and VB-M40B surveillance devices, and firmware 1.3.0 compatible with the producer’s VB-H710F, VB-H610VE, VB-H610D, VB-H41, and VB-H41B units.

In terms of changes, while the VB-M40 and VB-M40B products only receive security improvements for reducing unauthorized PTZ control, Canon’s VB-H710F, VB-H610VE, and VB-H610D get support for Internet Explorer 11 and many more.

Specifically speaking, the latter cameras also benefit from Windows 8.1 and Server 2012 R2 compatibility, an improved H.264 algorithm that reduces data size, as well as a new menu option that allows voiding time check during the WS-Security authentication.

Moreover, the issue where these imaging units would stop recording on their memory cards after a power loss has now been fixed.

When it comes to Canon’s VB-H41 and VB-H41B products, through firmware 1.3.0 these devices receive all changes and fixes highlighted above.

As for installing these updates, since the process’ complexity is above average, it would be best to save and run the appropriate file for your camera model, and carefully review the update manual provided within the newly-created folder.

That being said, from the links below, follow the one best describing your surveillance camera model, apply it on your device, and enjoy the changes these new versions bring about.
