BlackMagic Design has rolled out a new firmware update utility suitable for all its cameras, namely version 2.4, which adds support for more frame guides options and allows bypassing Dashboard by holding down MENU, but only to its Production Camera 4K units.

In terms of compatibility, the producer has made available 2 downloadable packages: one suitable for Microsoft’s 64-bit variant of its Windows 7 and 8 operating systems, and the other targeted at Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks and 10.10 Yosemite platforms.

However, for installing this release, you will also need a USB 2.0 port as well as a Thunderbolt port if you plan on using Blackmagic’s Cinema Camera or Production Camera 4K devices. Also, the producer recommends removing any previous version prior to applying the present one.

When it comes to the package content, version 2.4 includes and installs BlackMagic Camera setup, Media Express, UltraScope, Disk Speed Test, and Multibridge utility.

Therefore, in order to make use of this fresh release, save and unzip the appropriate archive for your system configuration, run the available setup file, and follow all instructions displayed on-screen for a complete and successful installation.

Bear in mind that, once applied, Blackmagic’s Cinema Camera EF and MFT built-in LCD screen might experience a slight flickering. This behavior is normal and it will fade out after a few minutes of usage.

That being said, download BlackMagic Camera Firmware Update Utility 2.4 specifically targeted at your OS and device model, follow all aforementioned steps, and check back with us as often as possible in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
