ASRock has recently released new BIOS updates for its Haswell-based VisionX and Vision HT series mini-PCs. Version 1.50 brings improved HDMI monitor audio compatibility to the Vision HT, while for its sibling it adjusts the “FIVR Switch Frequency Offset” to solve the issue where the system wouldn't wake from S3, and enhances the HDMI Hot plug function.

The updates come in the usual Windows, Instant Flash, and DOS “flavors” and may be installed in no time by following the few steps described below.

First of all, if you're a Windows user, I recommend you don't bother downloading anything else but the specially designed version. It comes in the form of an executable that only needs double-clicking. From there, the setup will guide you through the process.

The Instant Flash version (this being the file packed inside the downloaded archive) must be saved on a flash drive or simply on the hard drive of the mini-PC. Restart the system and enter BIOS setup by pressing the F2 key during POST.

Under the “Smart” tab, select “ASRock Instant Flash,” confirm the execution of the utility, and then select the BIOS file.

The installation will begin and, when it completes, the system restarts.
