14 DAY TRIAL // Today, ASRock has announced the availability of new BIOS packages targeted at some of its motherboards, namely versions 1.30, 1.50, 2.40, and 3.30 compatible with the H97M, Z87 Extreme4/TB4, Z87 Extreme6, and FM2A88X Extreme6+ devices.
As part of the producer’s updates, the Intel chipset-based units receive support for the Core i7-4790K and i5-4690K processors, as well as for the Pentium G3258 and G3258 EZ OC CPUs.
In addition to that, these boards also benefit from updated Instant Flash Module and Intel Management Engine components, and get their Intel Smart Connect Technology and shared memory settings adjusted.
When it comes to the AMD chipset-based motherboard, namely the FM2A88X Extreme6+, this device gets its microcode, Agesa code, and EZ OC table updated. In addition to that, compatibility with Athlon IIx4 860K CPUs, as well as with Target TDP for FM2+ APU, has also been added.
As for updating to these versions, you must know that flashing the BIOS is a risky process that should be performed only if the newer build specifically solves an issue that your board has been encountering. BIOS packages are not to be applied for the sake of being up to date.
