Microsoft has just made available for download the latest firmware package targeted at its Xbox 360 console, namely version 2.0.16547.0, which consists of two download records that describe the USB and CD update methods.

The newly released update fixes the dashboard theme problem that prevented it from appearing in certain situations, resolves the missing avatars issue, and makes the Kinect sensor work properly.

As for installing the new firmware, the producer describes two update methods: one using a USB drive, and the other through a CD or DVD.

Regardless of the desired method, download the proper package (USB or CD/DVD-related archive), expand it, and copy the newly extracted files onto a formatted USB stick (must be FAT32) or an empty CD/DVD. Insert it into the Xbox 360, restart the console, and the device will do the rest.

That being said, download Firmware 2.0.16547.0 for Microsoft Xbox 360 for the preferred update method, apply it to the console, and enjoy the new features that Microsoft included in this release.
