Fixes MiniDLNA so that it can use inotify for updates

Developed primarily to boost the official ASUS firmware, Merlin has rolled out yet another custom software package, namely build 376.48 beta 2, which adds a new logo to the webUI header and updates dropbear to version 2014.66.

In addition to that, this new release also updates MiniUPnPd to 20141023 code from Github and resolves CP850 warnings, as well as other bugs, by forcing Samba 3.6 to use libiconv to handle charset conversion.

Moreover, Merlin wishes to fix a few cases where the NTP (Network Time Protocol) update would stop working by reverting the code to GPL 2678. If this change doesn’t resolve the NTP-related issues, let’s hope other workarounds will be available along with future releases.

Last but not least, this custom firmware version statically links MiniDLNA with a threadsafe build of SQLite3, while BWDPI will still use the shared non-threadsafe library. Implementing this modification should allow MiniDLNA to use inotify for updates again.

When it comes to the compatible devices, this release can be applied regardless of the platform powering your computer on all models of ASUS’ RT-AC87, RT-AC56, RT-AC66, RT-AC68, RT-N16, and RT-N66 wireless routers.

As for the installation procedure, the update steps are similar to any regular firmware upgrade and the same recommendations apply. Also, you can revert to ASUS’ official firmware at any time by applying a proper update package.

That being said, download AsusWrt-Merlin Router Firmware 3.0.0.4.376.48 Beta 2 for the appropriate router model, apply it on your device, and constantly check our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
