NETGEAR has released a new firmware package targeted at several of its UTM firewalls, namely version 3.6.1-20, which is developed for the UTM5, UTM9S, UTM10, UTM25, UTM25S, UTM50, and UTM150 security appliances.

This fresh version includes several fixes and new features that improve the compatible units’ overall stability, performance, and security level.

Specifically speaking, version 3.6.1-20 increases the logging time on ReadyNAS devices, adds the ability to reset the admin password, and allows administrators to query the LAN settings using CLI commands.

In addition to that, the HTTPS remote management has been changed from enabled to disabled by default, the Scanning Compatibility Mode now turns off automatically, and the IPsec VPN tunnel allows traffic to pass through even when AES-256 and SHA2-256 are used simultaneously.

If applied, the present firmware will also resolve problems with the Attack Check menu that didn’t allow users to change settings, and the Google Safe Search option which wouldn’t be correctly removed from the GUI exception list.

Moreover, the issue with the Traffic Meter page which displayed an error in certain circumstances is fixed, the Internet connection now works even when both WANs are using PPPoe, and several other related problems have been resolved (the complete changes can be viewed on the description page of each device).

That being said, download NETGEAR UTM Firewall Firmware 3.6.1-20 for your specific network security appliance, apply the present version, and enjoy your newly-updated device.
