MSI has outed a new BIOS package targeted at two of its Intel H77 chipset-based motherboards, namely version 1.9 developed for the ZH77A-G41 and ZH77A-G43 boards, which should improve the devices’ overall performance.

Specifically speaking, BIOS version 1.9 updates the IVB CPU micro code, adds support for the LSI 9270-8i RAID card, and improves the boards’ memory compatibility. Moreover, its ME (Management Engine) firmware is also updated to version 8.1.40.1416.

As for installing this package, first you should know that upgrading BIOS is recommended only when the newer version specifically fixes an issue that the board has been encountering. Otherwise it’s just a risk that you can avoid taking.

So, copy the BIOS files locate within the downloadable archive onto a formatted USB drive, restart the system, and press the “Delete” key to enter the BIOS Menu, select “Utility,” and then “M-Flash.”

Afterwards, click on the “Select one file to update BIOS” option, select the USB drive that you just made, choose the BIOS you want to update, and hit the “Enter” key. At this point, the update process starts. When it finishes, it will automatically reboot the computer, and that’s all.

That being said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your motherboard, and keep you BIOS up to date.
