MSI has recently released a new set of BIOSes for its GT70 Dragon Edition 2 gaming notebook. Versions 70J and 50J modify PCIE port 4 ASPM to L1 and are addressed for the UEFI RAID0 SKU and UEFI none RAID0 SKU respectively.

A 64-bit version of Windows 8 must be running on the machine for this update to work.

The BIOS installation requires the archive available for download at the links below, a USB flash drive and the system's power supply.

Extract the contents of the package to your thumb drive, then shut down your system by pressing the Shift key while clicking the “Shut down” button.

Plug in the power cord, power the system back on and enter the BIOS. Under the “Advanced” tab, select “UEFI BIOS Update.” In the next screen, press “Enter” to start the utility. In the next screen, select the USB device on which you extracted the archive.

Browse for the E1763IMS.70J or E1763IMS.50J and confirm the update. The system will shut down, then power back on and ask for confirmation to proceed with flash update. Accept it and wait while the setup completes.

A final restart is performed and the new BIOS is now installed.

Get the new BIOSes from MSI at the links below, install them and stay “updated one minute ago.”
