MSI has outed new BIOS packages targeted at some of its GE60 and GE70 gaming notebooks, which are compatible only with the 64-bit version of Microsoft’s Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 operating systems, and consist of several download records developed for each BIOS and SKU types.

Specifically speaking, the producer has released the 217 (Windows 7) and 617 (Windows 8 and 8.1) BIOS packages that are compatible with the GE60 2OC and 2OD notebooks, as well as with the GE70 2OC and 2OD devices.

In order to be clearer, you should know that both mentioned versions include the Management Engine (ME) for HM86 chipset and are targeted at none-RAID SKUs. However, the 217 version is to be installed on a Legacy BIOS, while the 617 version is compatible with an UEFI one.

In addition to that, MSI has also made available BIOS version 117 and 317 (for Windows 7), and the 517 and 717 BIOS packages (for Windows 8 and 8.1), which can be installed on the producer’s GE70 2OE and GE60 2OE gaming notebooks.

As for some differences between these last mentioned variants, the 117 and 317 are compatible with a Legacy BIOS and the other two with an UEFI one. Moreover, the 117 and 517 packages are targeted at a non-RAID SKU, while the other 317 and 717 files are suitable for a RAID0 SKU.

That being said, take into account all the above-mentioned aspects, download MSI GE60 BIOS Release 17 or download MSI GE70 BIOS Release 17 for the proper notebook, SKU, and BIOS type, apply it, and stay “updated one minute ago.”
