MINIX has just released firmware version 20130731 (Android 4.1.1) and 20130730 (Android 4.2.2) for its Android-powered NEO X5 smart media hub. The double release is made of a “matured” Android 4.1.1 and the initial release of the 4.2.2.

While the 4.2.2.version of the OS brings no changes, the 4.1.1 improves and fixes the channel lag bug when changing online channels, updates the flash storage driver, reducing probability of firmware data corruption, and also fixes the NEO A1+ airmouse crashing bug.

The “Tuzi.TV” app has been removed with this update and the RKBatchTool.exe has been upgraded from version 1.5 to 1.6. Check out the full changelog at the link below.

MINIX recommends using version 4.2.2 for those who wish to try Miracast, this being said to be the major difference between the two iterations.

Also, the manufacturer promises a 1080p frame buffer firmware in a few days, so make sure to check back with us and stay “updated one minute ago.”
