Intel has announced the availability of a new series of drivers developed for its network adapters and controllers, namely version 18.8, which consists of several download records suitable for each user type.

Specifically speaking, the producer outed the 18.8 Ethernet Connections CD, which contains all the drivers and software for most of Intel’s adapters and is developed for the currently supported versions of Windows, Linux, and FreeBSD.

Because it includes so many files, the Ethernet CD therefore features quite a large file size (over 74MB), and is targeted at users who really need all these drivers for all the OSes in a single CD.

If you aren’t one of them, Intel has also released separate packages for each platform, namely for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1, as well as for Server 2008 R2, 2012, both bit variants. Moreover, due to the smaller file size, the producer also recommends downloading the package for your specific OS.

In addition to that, Intel has made available IT Administrative files (one for Windows and one for Linux), which is targeted at network administrators and other professional users.

As for the changes made in this release, the producer didn’t provide any changelog whatsoever along with the new version, but I can assume that, if applied, the new update will improve the compatible devices’ overall performance and stability.

That being said, got ahead and download Intel Network Adapter Driver 18.8 suitable for your needs, install it, and stay “updated one minute ago.”
