New SSD utility from Intel surfaces with improved performance

Just days before Christmas and Intel are quite busy: a new version of their SSD Toolbox emerges and bears the 3.0.2 tag.

The new toolbox comes with fixes for several bugs reported to plague the previous version. Namely, the scheduled Intel SSD Optimizer sessions could not run on encrypted drives; now, everything runs smoothly. The same SSD Optimizer could not work with partitions which had the Windows compression option enabled.

Lenovo platforms used to update to a wrong version number with Intel SSD 320 series units; it went LE02 instead of LE04. Finally, SMART details weren't displayed if SMART was disabled in Identify Device status on the drive; now that's back to normal, too.

The 3.0.2 Toolbox can be used to upgrade the firmware on the following Intel SSDs only:

710 Series firmware 6PB10362 320 Series firmware 4PC10362 311 Series firmware 2CV102M5 310 Series firmware 2CV102M3 X18-M / X25-M SATA SSDs (34nm) firmware 2CV102M3 X25-V SATA SSD firmware 2CV102M3.

Download the Intel SSD Toolbox 3.0.2 from Softpedia and make sure you back up all your data before any firmware upgrades.
