Intel has made available a new BIOS update targeted at its DQ77KB desktop board, namely version 0055, which consists of several downloadable packages that describe different installation methods.

This newly-released version resolves a problem with the onboard LAN controller that disappeared in some situations, fixes the issue where the system isn’t able to boot to SteamOS, and improves the security level by protecting specific UEFI variables, as described in the Intel Security Advisory 00038.

Besides these changes, the 0055 BIOS includes the 8.1.20.1336 ME firmware and the 8.0.0.0066 MEBx code. Moreover, the integrated graphics (2137 PC 14.34), LAN (1376 PXE 2.1 build 090), and SATA RAID (11.6.0.1702) option ROMs are also included within this release.

As for the downloadable files, the producer has provided 4 different update packages: two OS independent files, and two Windows-based executables (one for each bit architecture) that are to be used only on Microsoft's Windows XP, 7, 8, and 8.1 platforms.

In order to be clear, the KB0055P.BIO download (Recovery BIOS Update) can be used when an upgrade process has been interrupted in order to recover the BIOS from an unusable state.

In addition to that, while the KBQ7710H.86A.0055.BI.ZIP archive is able to update the BIOS regardless of the currently installed OS, the other two .exe files can do the same only on the aforementioned operating systems.

That being said, download Intel DQ77KB Desktop Board BIOS 0055, take into account all the above described aspects, and update your BIOS to the latest version.
