The release adds S3 module for security enhancement

Intel has made available a new BIOS package compatible with its D54250WY and D34010WY NUC products, namely version 0040, which improves the overall security level by adding an S3 module.

In addition to that, this new release also removes a bug that prevented xHCI Mode from being set to “Smart Auto” as default after a BIOS upgrade.

In terms of installation, Intel has provided several downloadable files that describe 3 different flashing methods: Recovery, iflash, and Express BIOS Update procedures.

To be clear about these procedures, the Recovery BIOS Update file is to be used for an F7 BIOS Update method, whereas the iflash-related archive is able to apply version 0040 only from a USB or CD drive, and only through a DOS command prompt.

As for the 2 Express BIOS Update executables, these packages must be run directly from a Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 platform (a file for each bit architecture).

Either way, while installing, make sure not to turn off/reboot your NUC, remove the power cable, or interrupt the process in any way. Doing so can cause serious device malfunctions and might even render the device unusable.

With this in mind, download Intel D54250WY NUC BIOS 0040 or download Intel D34010WY NUC BIOS 0040, apply it on your device, and constantly check our website in order to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
