Intel announces the release of their latest firmware running with their 711 series solid-state disks with 32GB and 64GB capacities. The old firmware 2M6 will now become 2M7 and comes with several improvements in the overall performance.

The products targeted by this new firmware release come with the following codes: SSDSA2SH032G2, SSDSA2SH064G2, SSDSA2SH032G201, and SSDSA2SH064G201. The 2M7 firmware is intended for the 32 and 64 GB SSDs and no data has been provided for other models.

There are no distinct firmware files to be downloaded: the update must be carried out using the Intel Solid-State Drive Toolbox 3.0.1.

This application will help the users update to the latest version of their SSD firmware while at the same time providing them with a lot of nifty tools such as diagnostic and drive health utilities.

Even more, the Intel Solid-State Drive Toolbox 3.0.1 supports HDDs and SSDs alike, offering tuning optimization tools for your storage. When run with the Intel 711 series SSDs, this toolbox utility will upgrade the firmware. As always, full backup of your data is highly advised lest you lose valuable information on your SSDs.
