HERO3+ black and silver edition cameras get firmware version 1.04 and 1.09, respectively

GoPro has outed two new firmware packages targeted at its Hero3+ cameras, namely version 1.04 and 1.09 for the black and silver editions, respectively.

This newly released update fixes a single issue that could have caused over-compression of photo files, therefore cutting from the images’ resolution and quality.

As for installing the new firmware, get and expand the downloadable archive, copy the files from the newly created folder onto a formatted microSD memory card, ensure that the battery is fully charged, and insert the microSD into the camera’s slot.

Now, if you power on the device, the Hero3+ will cycle through a number of beeps and automatically reboot one time. After it powers back on, it will show an “Updating” message on the display, and as long as you don’t get a “Camera Update Failed” message, then the update will be successful.

That being said, download Firmware 1.04 of GoPro HERO3+ Black Edition or download Firmware 1.09 of GoPro HERO3+ Silver Edition, and update the camera’s firmware version to the latest one.
