14 DAY TRIAL // OCZ releases a new firmware revision (2.22) for a lot of their SSD series and upgrades the firmware-installation utility called OCZ Toolbox Firmware updater to version 3.02.06.
Version 2.15 is intended for OCZ Octane OCZ Octane S2 OCZ Onyx OCZ Petrol OCZ RevoDrive and RevoDrive X2 OCZ Summit OCZ Vertex 2, Vertex LE, Agility 2 OCZ Vertex 3, Vertex 3 Max IOPS, Agility 3, Solid 3, RevoDrive 3, RevoDrive 3 X2 and Synapse OCZ Vertex Plus OCZ Vertex, Agility, Vertex Turbo, Vertex EX, and Solid 2.
One of the fixes in this new firmware addresses some of the reported errors relating to block counting display in SMART data; abnormal amounts of secure erases used to create false P/E counts. The prolonged resume times reported when cycling between partial to slumber state has also been corrected with firmware 2.22, while the results in several benchmarks will be better with the new software.
The OCZ Toolbox 3.02.06 receives a Vertex3 secure erase fix and the ability to secure erase Vertex4 SSDs, while the 2 minute wait when updating the firmware on Vertex4 and Octane S2 drives is now eliminated.
Remember to back up your data before any firmware update and make sure your SSD is not a primary system drive and the Windows you're running is nor running off the drive whose firmware you want to upgrade.
