14 DAY TRIAL // Foscam has just released new firmware for its FI9801W, FI9802W and FI9818W IP cameras. The system version all cameras will have after this update is 1.2.1.1, but the App firmware version will differ.
Apart from the similarities mentioned above, the new releases have the same changelog. This being said, the issue with some cameras that would stop uploading alarm images to FTP after several hours has been resolved.
Other fixes address problems reported with the addition of only one host name, the second needing a different port.
Security improvements are also part of this update, therefore we can see a user prompt required when changing the default blank login password. Also, the default username can be changed from “admin”.
Sticking to security updates, there is now an extended character length limit for passwords, for better protection against unwanted visitors.
Finally, the Web UI (User interface) has been improved and is now more user friendly.
