Foscam has just made available a new firmware package targeted at several of its IP cameras, namely version 2.x.4.8 compatible with the FI9821W V2, FI9818W V2, FI9831W, FI9826W, FI9821P, FI9831P, FI9826P, FI9805W, FI9804W, FI9805E, and FI9828W HD devices.

This fresh update only improves Foscam’s Dynamic DNS (DDNS) security level and contains the 1.4.1.9 system firmware and the 2.0.2.11 plug-in versions.

If you intend to apply this release, you should know that this package is to be installed on cameras that already feature app firmware version 2.x.2.8.

If checked, restart the camera before initiating the upgrade, connect it to the router using an Ethernet cable, remove any SD card, and make sure to keep the power on during the whole process. Bear in mind that installing a new firmware via wireless or over the Internet is not recommended.

Now, log into the camera’s administration page, go to Settings → System → System Upgrade → Browse, navigate and select the “FosIPC_A_app_ver2.x.4.8.bin” file, click “Open,” and then “System Upgrade.”

At this point, the installation process is initiated and the camera IP disappears from the IP Camera Tool – the device restart automatically, so don’t turn off the power; simply wait for the camera to be displayed again.

That being said, download Foscam HD Camera Firmware 2.x.4.8 for the proper device, take into account all the aforementioned aspects, and apply the new firmware on your unit.
