Today, FiiO has made available a new firmware update targeted at its X5 music player, namely version 2.4, which now allows the device to delete a whole folder, as well as remove tracks from within a playlist.

In addition to that, version 2.4 improves AAC, FLAC and M4A playback, adds the ability to display song title instead of filename in Now Playing screen, allows changing the Preset EQ settings, and includes a new Sleep timer functionality with an on/off switch and timer setting.

Moreover, the 5800 track limit for scanning media library has been removed, playback support for multichannel recordings has been added, and a specific issue regarding Shuffle mode that caused the device to play the same set of songs has been resolved.

If you consider applying this update, you should also know that, after installing firmware 2.4, FiiO’s X5 will also be able to change to the next folder’s first song after playing the current folder’s last song.

Last but not least, an X5 powered by FiiO’s 2.4 release will now always take you to the place where the current song is selected when pressing the “Back” button from the Now Playing screen. This change applies even after rebooting your music player or when navigating to a different menu.

As for upgrading your X5, just extract the downloadable archive, format a memory card (FAT32) using your device, copy the “x5.fw” file on it, make sure the audio player is fully charged, power it off, and insert the newly-prepared SD card.

Now, hold the upper left button of X keygroup, turn on your device, and allow it to do its job. Upon completion, simply select your desired interface language, and you’re done.

That being said, download FiiO X5 Portable Player Firmware 2.4, take into account all aforementioned aspects, and carefully upgrade your device to the latest software version.
