Today, EVGA has announced a new BIOS package developed for its X79 Dark board, namely version 2.09, which includes several fixes that improve the device’s overall stability.

Specifically speaking, this fresh update adds support for VCore voltage offsets, fixes the quick boot popup menu so that it now shows all devices, and resolves the silent mode and checksum errors, as well as the overclocking BCLOCK issue.

In addition to that, BIOS 2.09 also resolves problems such as the PCI-E LED that always showed maximum card speed, the S4 resume bug, and the TDC Limit that could not be changed with the mouse.

Moreover, issues like the CPU multiplier control problem, the JSYS1 default error, as well as the active processor cores bug that showed 1, 2, and 4 when using Intel’s Core i7-3970X Extreme Edition CPU are also removed from the board’s Known Issues list.

Although the changelog is very rich, you should know that updating the BIOS version isn’t recommended if the computer is running fine and no issues are encountered. Make sure you install this update only if it fixes at least one of your board’s known problems.

That being said, carefully review all the changes that EVGA’s new BIOS makes, and if you consider updating, then download BIOS 2.09 for EVGA X79 Dark, apply it, and enjoy your new updated board.
