EVGA has just released a new BIOS for their X79 Dark motherboard. This update comes with an impressive number of fixes and changes, most of them regarding the CPU and memory.

To begin with, the Ivy Bridge-E support, the internal PLL override function and the memory timing adjustment compatibility have been improved.

Issues with CPU frequency target label on first boot, RTL/IOL not being able to set, PWM frequency control or OCP setting control have been fixed, as well as numerous other problems.

This BIOS version grants users the possibility of disabling the in-board audio and to adjust VDIMM up to 2500mV.

Users have reported difficulties in installing under Windows 8.1. If you're one of them, the solution is to create a shortcut on the desktop and type “CMD” in the “Location” box. Click finish, then run as administrator the newly created shortcut.

Navigate to the directory path (i.e. C:\E789_202) and then type “FPTWin64.bat” to start. Replace the “64” with “32” for 32 bit OS.
