After releasing several updates such as BIOS 2.09 for EVGA X79 Dark (the other X79 boards have a new BIOS as well) or BIOS 1.05 for EVGA Z87 FTW, the producer announced the availability of the new 1.04 BIOS version developed for the Z87 Classified and Stinger devices.

This newly released update resolves the issue with the system that occasionally hung up on B2 error, enhances the USB 3.0 compatibility and fan control, and fixes the VCore bug (when over 1.4V). Moreover, the resume problem is resolved and the CPU C-States are now enabled by default.

If one of these changes describes a problem that your board has been encountering, then it’s recommended that you perform the update. Otherwise, you shouldn’t apply this package because it would be only a risk that you can avoid taking.

Therefore, if the upgrade is needed, then get the proper package, expand it, and close all the programs and processes that might interfere with the update.

Now if your system is running one of Microsoft’s Windows XP, Vista, or 7 OSes, then open “FPTWIN32.BAT” (32 bit) or “FPTWIN64.BAT” (64 bit). Otherwise, copy the content onto a USB drive, and run the “fptdos.bat” file from the DOS prompt.

If checked, press “Y” (in capital letters) to initiate the upgrade, and wait for the process to complete. When it finishes, restart the system, check the lower-right BIOS screen to ensure that the flash was successful, and you can also load the default BIOS setting.

That being said, take into account all the above-mentioned aspects, download BIOS 1.04 for EVGA Z87 Classified or download BIOS 1.04 for EVGA Z87 Stinger, and update your motherboard’s BIOS version to the latest.
