After releasing BIOS version 1.06 and 1.05 for the Z87 FTW and Stinger devices, EVGA has outed a new BIOS packaged targeted at its Z87 Classified motherboard, namely version 1.05, which can be installed through two methods.

The newly released update fixes the load previous values feature and the memory TWR value settings, improves the PCIe compatibility, and also resolves the issue where the system couldn’t boot while CPU core was set to manual.

As for applying this version, first make sure that the new package fixes a specific problem your board has been encountering. Updating the BIOS is recommended only under these circumstances – otherwise it’s just a risk that you can avoid taking.

If the update is needed however, get and expand the downloadable archive, close all programs that might interfere with the process, run the “Windows_Update.bat” file, and press “Y” to initiate the upgrade.

If this method isn’t suitable for you, then copy the extracted files onto a bootable disk, reboot the system, and from the DOS prompt, run the “DOS_Update.bat” file, press “Y” just like above, and wait for the process to complete.

When it finishes, restart the system, load the default BIOS settings, and also make sure that the currently installed version matches the one you have just installed.

That being said, if you consider updating, make sure you really need to install a newer version, download BIOS 1.05 for EVGA Z87 Classified, take into account the above-mentioned aspects, and enjoy your newly improved motherboard.
