This newly released update fixes the PXE performance issue that the board was encountering

Today, EVGA has just made available a new BIOS package targeted at its Z87 FTW motherboard, namely version 1.07, which fixes the PXE performance problem that the board has been encountering with the previous 1.06 BIOS for EVGA Z87 FTW.

Because it’s quite a risky process, BIOS upgrading is recommended only when the newer package specifically resolves a problem that your board has – otherwise it’s just a risk that you can avoid taking.

Therefore, if the board really needs BIOS 1.07, then get the downloadable archive, expand it, and close all programs and processes that might interfere with the upgrade so that no problems (that might lead to an update failure) are encountered.

Now run the “Windows_Update.bat” file from within the newly created folder, press any key to continue, click “Yes” at the UAC message and, afterwards, press “Y” to initiate the flash.

Bear in mind that, while installing, the system must remain untouched (so make sure you don’t shut down or restart the computer), and when the new BIOS is applied, the system will automatically shut down.

At this point you must power it back on, verify the installed version (displayed in the lower right-hand corner of the BIOS screen) to ensure that the upgrade has been successful, and load the default BIOS settings.

That being said, download BIOS 1.07 for EVGA Z87 FTW motherboard, take into account all the above-mentioned aspects, apply it, and stay “updated one minute ago.”
