Today, after just a week since the previous 2.02 BIOS, EVGA has released another BIOS package developed for its X79 Dark motherboard, namely version 2.04.

One of the most important things that BIOS 2.02 did was to enhance support for Ivy Bridge-E processors, and thanks to this update, EVGA’s latest release manages to significantly improve the overclocking ability of the same CPUs.

Moreover, the MCU (that also suffered changes within the previous BIOS) has been updated to 306, the product name has been changed to the proper part number, and the PE4 LED blinking issue and the VCORE error when voltage is below 1.535V have been fixed.

As for installing the package, close all running programs, run the “UPDATE.bat” file from within the downloadable archive, press any key to continue, click “Yes” at the next dialog, and press “Y” (in CAPS) to start the installation process.

Bear in mind that while flashing the BIOS, you mustn’t turn off or reset the system or interrupt the process in any way, because doing so may render your board unstable.

After the update process completes, and the computer automatically shuts down, you should power it back on and go into BIOS setup to ensure that the 2.04 package has successfully installed by checking the board’s current BIOS version.

That being said, from the links below, follow the first one to download EVGA’s latest BIOS, or the second one to download the needed driver for your X79 Dark board from the available ones.
