TP-Link has just made available a new firmware package developed for its TD-8840T v4 router, namely build 140418, which includes a few changes that improve overall performance and stability.

Specifically speaking, this fresh release enhances the security mechanism, adds a new logout function, forbids downloading files via URL or accessing firmware page from WAN, and denies management interface access after entering a wrong username or password over 5 times.

When it comes to applying this latest firmware, first make sure your router hardware version is v4, get and extract the downloadable archive, and connect the TD-8840T with the computer using an Ethernet cable (wireless connections aren’t recommended).

Save the router’s current configuration, as you will need to re-enter the details manually after the upgrade, log into the device’s administration page, and go to System Tools → Firmware Upgrade → Browse.

Now, navigate and select and the newly-extracted firmware file, click the “Upgrade” button, and wait for the TD-8840T to reboot automatically (this event confirms that the update process has finished).

After the upgrade, we recommend that you check the status section to ensure that the new firmware has been applied successfully, as well as go to System Tools → Factory Default and restore the default router values.

That being said, download TP-Link TD-8840Tv4 Router Firmware 140418, take into account all aforementioned aspects, apply the latest firmware version, and enjoy your newly-updated router unit.
