Amazon's Kindle Fire receives a fresh firmware revision, in the shape of the 6.3.1 release. This new system software brings a lot of nifty improvements to the overall user experience and also sports generic performance enhancements.

Sharing becomes easier with the new firmware: just highlight a passage directly from your Kindle Fire, select "Share" and then choose the preferred social network. And that's it! The Book Extras feature allows readers to access supplemental information related to the open book without even leaving it; tap the bottom of the screen, choose Menu and then Book Extras to display the available material.

The personal documents are synced by Whispersync into the Amazon Cloud archive containing notes, highlights, furthest page read. Print Replica Books are available to students for prices up to 60% lower than those of real books.

Print Replica Books look just like the real, paper-printed books and maintain all the colors, rich formatting, real page numbers, but come with all the digital convenient feats such as notes and highlights, zoom and pan, linked table of contents and Whispersync.

Firmware 6.3.1 keeps the Reading View on Silk, elevating the relevant content above the rest of the clutter, and this works for multi-page articles, too. The Movie Rental period starts with the playback of said movie, and not with the time of download. Finally, the Wi-Fi connection is now re-established quicker when your Kindle Fire resumes from sleep.

If you haven't already received the new system software over the air, you can download the Amazon Kindle Fire firmware 6.3.1 and install it yourself.
