NETGEAR has outed a new firmware package targeted at one of its wireless range extenders, namely version 1.0.0.42 compatible with the EX6200 Dual-Band device.

The newly released update fixes an issue where users would not be able to change the 2.4G wireless channel, and the one where the extender runs in HT20Mhz mode when set to 300Mbps.

When it comes to installing this fresh version, first make sure you perform the upgrade through a wired connection (wireless updates are not recommended), and back up all the settings that you have changed from the original firmware (you might need to re-enter them).

Now, simply get and expand the downloadable archive, log into the extender’s user interface, go to Maintenance → Firmware Upgrade → Browse, navigate and select the newly extracted “EX6200-V1.0.0.42_1.1.57.chk” file, and click “Upload.”

At this point, the firmware will be transferred to the EX6200 and then installed, so make sure you don’t interfere with the process in any way; the new version will be successfully applied when the progress bar completes.

That being said, if you consider installing this new update, download Firmware 1.0.0.42 for NETGEAR EX6200 Range Extender, expand the package, apply it, and enjoy your newly updated wireless extender.
