Dell has just released a new set of BIOSes for its Latitude E7240 and E7440 ultrabooks. Although the products come from the same series and the BIOSes share the version number (A06), release notes are available only for E7240. This does not mean that they apply to the E7440 as well.

The changelog mentions the addition of touchscreen input support in diagnostics and enhanced thermal control. This version also fixes the issue where screen would flicker between passwords prompts.

A06 for Latitude E7240 mentions addressing issues such as SSDs that are undetected, inability to boot from some USB keys, and CPU not being able to keep a low speed when plugging 65W or unknown adapter.

To install, simply download the BIOS file and run it. The system will automatically restart and flash the update. This requires using Windows OS.

For non-Windows users, there are two methods available for the update: one for Legacy Boot mode and the other for UEFI Boot Mode. Check out the download links below for the detailed installation methods.
