Today, Creative has rolled out a new firmware package compatible with its Sound Blaster Omni Surround 5.1 audio card, namely version 150610, which includes support for USB 2.0 connections and resolves the remote control issue.

In addition to that, for use with Mac OS X platforms, this new release also adds compatibility with 24-bit/96kHz surround playback in High-Speed USB 2.0 mode.

When it comes to the downloadable package, Creative has provided a package supporting Microsoft’s Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 8.1 operating systems (both 32- and 64-bit variants), as well as another one suitable for Mac OS X 10.6.8 and later platforms.

As for installing this release, first of all, save and extract the appropriate package for your system configuration, and ensure that the sound card is properly connected to the computer. Also, if running Windows, you must apply the audio card’s driver prior to the firmware upgrade.

If all is OK, run the available setup file, follow all instructions displayed on-screen for a complete installation, and unplug and plug back the sound card once the update has finished in order to ensure that all changes take effect.

Even though this process seems easy, bear in mind that, interrupting this task in any way can cause serious device malfunctions and might even render the device unstable.

That being said, download Creative Sound Blaster Omni Surround 5.1 Firmware 150610, follow all aforementioned aspects, and apply the latest software version on your device.
