Two days after the release of Realtek SB X-Fi HD Sound Card Driver 1.02.0021a, the producer has announced the availability of a new driver version targeted at its Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro device, namely build 1.02.0061a.

This newly-released update is compatible with both 32- and 64-bit variants of Microsoft’s Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 8.1 operating systems, and includes a few changes that improve the audio card’s overall usability.

Specifically speaking, version 1.02.0061a adds support for Audio Stream Input/Output (ASIO) playback on Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 OSes and enhances Dolby Digital Live compatibility with XAudio2 API-based games for Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 8.1 platforms.

As for applying this release, just confirm that your system is running one of the compatible OSes, get and run the downloadable package, wait for all the required files to be extracted, and follow the on-screen instructions for a complete and successful upgrade.

In addition to that, after the installation finishes, we recommend that you perform a system reboot in order to make sure that all changes take effect properly.

That being said, download Creative SB X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro Sound Card Driver 1.02.0061a, apply it on your computer, and enjoy your newly-improved device.
