CradlePoint has just made available a new firmware package targeted at some of its routers, namely version 5.1.0 compatible with the MBR1200B, MBR1400, CBA750B, IBR600, IBR650, and MBR1400V2 devices, as well as with its newly launched AER2100 router.

As for changes, the new release improves the VPN solution by removing the beta status and renaming it to “CP Secure Connect,” adds additional modem diagnostics to the SNMP, and includes band-steering support for the new AER2100 unit.

In addition to that, the Ethernet WAN sources get active and passive DNS Failure Check options, the Hotspot support now include RADIUS timeout and retry settings, and the VPN tunnel is now able to prioritize VOIP packets from LAN to WAN.

When it comes to fixes, firmware 5.1.0 resolves the CP Secure Connect’s issues regarding the IE9 and IE10 browsers and allows it to re-establish after reboot, and fixes the GRE failover, SSH to Serial port, and OpenDNS-related problems.

Moreover, the new upgrade adds modem diagnostic info, On Demand Start Connection checkbox, and SMS interface extension (as well as a help command) on the UI’s web page, and includes a “Wireless Band” option for the Wi-Fi client list.

Last but not least, CradlePoint’s latest firmware adds an “Asset Tag” field under the Local Administration tab in the web user interface, and extends the AER2100’s modem support.

That being said, if you consider applying this version, download Firmware 5.1.0 for CradlePoint Router, install it, and enjoy your newly updated device.
