exFAT file system CF cards of 128 GB or larger are supported

Today, Canon has rolled out firmware 1.0.5.0 compatible with XF100 and XF105 camcorders, which adds support for exFAT file system of 128 GB CF memory cards and larger.

This newly-made change shrinks the waiting time required by these two devices in order to access the card before they can record any footage.

Thus, if you want to add this improvement to your camcorder, first of all check the current firmware powering your unit by going to Menu > Other Functions > Firmware, and make sure it reads 1.0.4.0 or earlier.

If so, then save and extract the downloadable archive, initialize a compatible memory card using the XF device, copy the “VHA5.FIM” file onto it, and afterwards insert the card into the camcorder.

Now, power on the imaging unit, go to Menu > Other Functions > Firmware, press “Set,” wait for the update to be recognized, and then select “Yes” at the “Update the Firmware?” message.

At this point, installation is initiated and you should do as instructed: do not turn off or disconnect the power. Not complying with this recommendation will cause serious device malfunctions.

In addition to that, same unpleasant results also can rise if you remove the memory card or use the camcorder’s buttons. Thus, allow the device to perform the installation (takes about 4 minutes to complete).

That being said, download Canon XF100 Camcorder Firmware 1.0.5.0 or download Canon XF105 Camcorder Firmware 1.0.5.0, take into account all aforementioned aspects, and improve your device’s response time.
