Today, Canon has announced the availability of a new firmware package compatible with its EOS Rebel T5i digital camera (a.k.a. EOS 700D in Europe and EOS Kiss X7i in Japan), namely the 1.1.3 version that can be installed regardless of your system’s OS.

If applied, this newly released update fixes some Korean language misspellings that could be viewed on the menu screen, and also resolves an issue where the camera occasionally displayed errors or even lockup.

As for installing this package, get and extract the downloadable archive, make sure the camera has either a fully charged battery or a connected AC adapter kit and copy the firmware file (.FIR format) onto an empty SD card.

Insert the card into the camera, turn it on, go to Menu → Setup 4 → Firmware Ver.: X.X.X, press the “Set” button, and choose “Ok” to agree with the upgrade process.

Now select the “CCF14113.FIR” file by pressing the “Set” button, choose “Ok” to initiate the update, and wait patiently for the process to complete. When it does and the proper message is displayed, all you need to do is select “Ok” once more, power off the camera, and remove the SD card.

Bear in mind that if you turn off the camera, remove the SD card, or press any of the device’s buttons while the firmware installation is in progress, this might lead to an update failure which could render your device unstable, so make sure you don’t interfere with the process.

That being said, download Firmware 1.1.3 for Canon EOS Rebel T5i, take into account all the above-mentioned aspects, apply it to your unit, and stay “updated one minute ago.”
