Well known for its imaging devices, today, Canon has rolled out its 1.0.4 firmware version developed for EOS 7D Mark II camera models, which fixes various phenomena encountered by users in certain situations.

Specifically speaking, the present update resolves a compatibility problem with EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM lenses where the camera’s AF function wouldn’t properly work at a focal length of approximately 100mm.

In addition to that, version 1.0.4 fixes a Picture Style issue where appropriate settings weren’t applied when capturing images with the camera being set to custom shooting mode C1, C2 or C3.

As for rare cases, the first still image captured in live view mode will now record proper date and time values, and noise won’t appear in JPEG images anymore, even when Auto Lighting Optimizer function corrects brightness or contrast.

Last but not least, even if “Anti-flicker shoot” function is enabled, sometimes flicker effect cannot be reduced in AI servo AF mode. This rare phenomenon will also be resolved once firmware 1.0.4 is applied.

When it comes to upgrading your camera, save and unzip the downloadable archive, transfer the “7D200104.FIR” file onto a formatted memory card, and insert it into your imaging device. Afterwards, power up the unit, and go to Menu > Set-up 4 > Firmware Version.

Once there, just press the “Set” button, and follow all instructions displayed on the camera’s LCD screen. However, it would be a good idea to review the detailed update procedure provided within the downloadable package.

With this in mind, download Canon EOS 7D Mark II Firmware 1.0.4, carefully apply it on your camera, and enjoy the changes that this new release brings about.
