Canon, an important player in the imaging equipment industry, has just released today a new firmware developed for some of its HD camcorders, namely version 1.0.3.0 compatible with the XA20, XA25, and VIXIA HF G30 recorders.

This newly released update improves compatibility with third-party remote controllers and fixes a headphones problem regarding its terminal audio output timing delay when monitor delay option is set to “Normal.”

In addition to that, the metadata details for the MP4 recording has been changed so that Apple Final Cut Pro X version 10.0.9 can properly display the video’s time codes. Moreover, the on-screen guidance for connecting to Remote Browse has been corrected for languages other than Japanese.

As for installing the firmware, first make sure the battery is fully charged and the unit’s power adapter is connected. Moreover, while the firmware is installing, do not turn off the device or operate its buttons so that no problems are encountered as a result of an update crash.

That being said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your Canon camcorder, apply the new firmware, and enjoy your newly updated recorder.
