The newly released update fixes several configuration issues

Buffalo has made available firmware version 1.60 suitable for WMR-300 and WHR-600D routers, which fixes several issues where the two devices couldn’t be configured properly, as well as other problems.

For both wireless units, this update resolves subnet mask and router settings that couldn’t be set correctly in certain circumstances, and deletes an irrelevant sentence from the Internet connection wizard.

In addition to that, version 1.60 now forces the routers to automatically assign APIPA (Automatic Private IP Addressing) when no IP address is received from a DHCP server that is in bridge mode.

When it comes to WHR-600D alone, this unit also gets its routing settings, Internet transmission rates, PPPoE connection and contents of DDNS logs corrected, and the UPnP compatibility with some STBs improved.

Moreover, this device won’t reply to ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) requests anymore for no reason, and no WAN-side IP address characters will get corrupted in port forwarding settings.

As for installing the update, first confirm that your router and computer are on the same subnet, check the currently installed firmware, make sure it isn’t either newer or matching this release, and only afterwards save and extract the downloadable package.

Now, log in to the web interface, click “Browse” at the “Update AirStation Firmware” section, select the newly-extracted firmware file, click “Apply,” and allow the device to do the rest.

With this in mind, download Buffalo WMR-300 Router Firmware 1.60 or download Buffalo WHR-600D Router Firmware 1.60, apply it, and enjoy your newly improved wireless device.
