DDNS logs, PPPoE connection, and UPnP have been improved

Buffalo has just announced the availability of its 1.60 firmware version developed for WHR-300HP2 routers, which fixes contents of DDNS logs, erases an unnecessary sentence from the connection wizard, and includes several other changes.

Specifically speaking, version 1.60 resolves subnet mask that sometimes couldn’t be configured properly in routing settings (routing experienced same problems as well), and fixes Internet transmission rate drop issue.

In addition to that, improper behavior such as with the PPPoE connection that stops after router reboots, or the router settings that couldn’t be configured when booting without an Internet connection, as well as UPnP compatibility issues with some STBs have been resolved.

Moreover, the AirStation won’t reply to ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) without any reason, and WAN-side IP address characters will be correctly recognized in port forwarding settings.

Last but not least, the AirStation will now automatically assign APIPA (Automatic Private IP Addressing) when an IP address cannot be obtained from DHCP server while it’s in bridge mode.

With this in mind, in order to benefit from these changes, save and extract the downloadable archive, make sure both router and router are on the same network subnet, and login to the AirStation’s web interface (username and password required).

Now, go to Update AirStation Firmware, click “Browse,” navigate and select the “whr300hp2-160” file, and click “Apply.” Wait about 6 minutes for the progress bar to fill up, and reboot the router once firmware 1.60 has been applied.

That being said, download Buffalo WHR-300HP2 Router Firmware 1.60, follow all aforementioned steps, apply the present release, and enjoy your newly-improved AirStation router.
