Buffalo has just released firmware version 1.01 targeted at its LinkStation LS410D, LS420D, LS421DE network-attached storage series, which is compatible with both Windows and MAC operating systems.

Specifically speaking, the firmware is developed for both 32- and 64-bit versions of Microsoft’s Windows Vista, 7, 8, and Server 2008 OSes, as well as for the MAC platforms.

The release improves the LED notifications so that errors and messages to be displayed more accurate, and fixes an issue that didn’t allow AFP to be enabled or disabled when Time Machine was on.

In addition to that, the package fixes a problem with the LS421DE with a single hard drive, where no shared folder was available after the initial setup of the device.

It is good to know that if your current firmware is already 1.01, applying this latest package isn’t a must. To find it out, select your device from the NAS Navigator 2, and check the bottom-right corner of the screen where the version should be displayed.

Furthermore, if you consider installing this update, bear in mind that you mustn’t turn off the unit while the process is in progress, and if a "I52:Unknown error occurred" message is displayed, make sure to update the NAS Navigator 2 to the latest version.

That being said, from the list below, choose the link that best describes your NAS series, and afterwards, the one compatible with your operating system.
