Buffalo has made available a new firmware package targeted at its TeraStation 5000 NAS series, namely version 2.50, compatible with the TS5200D, TS5400R, TS5400D, TS5600D, and TS5800D network-attached storage devices.

Version 2.50 adds support for uploading files larger than 5 GB and a few new options to the backup feature, includes some workarounds regarding the iSCSI, and fixes several Failover-related problems.

In addition to that, the new firmware also resolves numerous issues regarding the WebAccess, Replication, antivirus, DLNA, and improves the system’s overall performance and stability through several fixes and new features.

Moreover, the update brings many other fixes, changes, and improvements for the suitable NASes, and you can view the full changelog through the description page of each download record.

As for installing the firmware, get and extract the downloadable archive, connect the storage to the computer and make sure the two devices are both on the same network subnet, disable the firewall, close all running applications, and run the “TSUpdater.exe.”

Now, select which TeraStation to update (if there is more than one storage connected), click “Update,” enter the device’s password, select “Ok,” and wait for the firmware to be installed. When it completes, a proper message will be displayed on the computer screen.

That being said, download Buffalo TeraStation 5000 NAS Series Firmware 2.50 for the proper storage device (from there you can also view all the changes that the new update brings), apply it, and enjoy your newly updated TeraStation unit.
